Desktop PCs Get My Work Vote |

I was talking to a friend who just started a new corporate job where he has a cubicle alongside veterans to the company. The company provides a dated PC so he has been using his laptop computer instead leaving much more work desk room. Apparently, they didn’t give him an LCD monitor so the bulbous old school screen takes up half the desk space. If I had the choice between desktop PCs and a notebook computer while working my choice without a doubt would be the first. I’ve timed myself on both and am much faster with desktop computers. It probably has something to do with familiarity.
Since a kid in grade school overcoming a computer lab teacher who hated when children hunted and pecked for keys, the desktop has been a part of my life. The distance from keyboard to screen also makes a difference. It comes down to being comfortable and I’m most comfortable in a chair, a good 1.5 feet away from the screen. It’s easier on the eyes. One of the hardest parts about computer work is straining the eyeballs.
