I teach ballroom dance and often when I get a student who is really dedicated it can be a real relationship. You're seeing them many times per week and you're invested in their well being. Similarly they see in you someone they look up to and someone that makes them feel better through your service. It's a very honorable position to be in.
With that said I had a student that for a while had been seeing me. She was going to move away and so on her last day she gave me a laptop computer. That's right! I couldn't believe it. I guess her husband was a huge tech guy and so he put this thing together with all the up to date software and programs. It was fantastic. I had never had a tiny laptop to carry around in case I wanted to blog or work on stuff and now my student actually got me one. It was absolutely incredible.
Now this thing had about 2 gigs of ram, an awesome hard drive and overall it was very good for a laptop computer. Today I use my laptop computer nearly everywhere I go because of this.
